1/2 c. sweet milk
1 egg, beaten
1/2 Tbsp. sugar
1/4 c. warm water
2 Tbsp. shortening
2 1/2 c. flour
1 pkg. yeast

To milk add beaten egg and mix with yeast and sugar
dissolved in warm water. Cut 2 tablespoons shortening into
flour. Mix flour and liquid to form soft dough. Knead gently
on well floured board, form dough into small 3/4-inch balls.
Place 3 balls in each greased muffin cup. Brush generously
with melted butter and cover with towel and allow to rise for 2
or 4 hours at room temperature. Bake at 400 degrees for 10 to 15
