AUNT ALICE'S ROLLS

2 c. warm water
2 pkg. yeast
1 Tbsp. salt
3 Tbsp. heaping sugar
7 Tbsp. melted shortening
6 c. plain flour

Dissolve yeast in warm water in a large bowl. Stir in
salt, sugar and shortening. Then add 3 cups flour and mix
well. Add the other 3 cups of flour and mix again. This will
be a stiff dough. Have some plain flour sifted in another bowl
to knead this dough in. Knead until it is easily handled. Put
dough in a greased bowl or pan and put a little melted shorten-
ing on top. Cover and let rise until dough doubles in size.
Then knead again just a little. Make out in rolls and put in
greased pans. Let rise until double and bake in 400 degrees oven
about 20 to 25 minutes. Butter the tops of rolls.
