SOPAIPILLAS
(Fried Bread)
4 c. flour
3 tsp. baking powder
1 tsp. salt
2 tsp. sugar
3 Tbsp. lard or vegetable
shortening

Sift flour, baking powder, salt and sugar together. Cut
in shortening, adding enough water to make a dry dough, about
3/4 cup. Let dough stand for 20 minutes. Roll out on a
floured board 1/4-inch thick. Cut into 4 pie shaped pieces and
deep fry in hot fat until golden brown. Makes about 2 dozen.
Stuff with refried beans and cheese, or coat inside with honey
for dessert.
