BRAN MUFFINS

1 box bran flakes (Raisin Bran
works well)
1 c. melted Crisco
2 c. sugar
4 eggs, beaten
1 qt. buttermilk
5 c. flour
5 tsp. baking soda
2 tsp. salt
2 c. raisins (optional)

Mix in large bowl bran flakes, sugar, flour, baking soda
and salt. Use wooden spoon. Then add melted Crisco, eggs and
buttermilk; mix well. Bake at 400 degrees for 15 minutes. Serve with
butter, cream cheese and jam. Store in refrigerator for up to
6 weeks.
