FRESH STRAWBERRY PIE

1 1/2 qt. strawberries
1 c. water, divided 1/3 and
2/3
1 c. sugar
3 Tbsp. cornstarch
1 (3 oz.) pkg. cream cheese
whipped cream
1 baked 9-inch pie shell

Reserve 1/2 cup choicest berries. Simmer for 3 minutes
2/3 cup water and 1 cup berries. Blend together sugar, corn-
starch and remaining 1/3 cup water. Add to boiling mixture.
Stir constantly and let boil for 1 minute; cool. Spread
softened cream cheese over baked crust. Add remaining berries,
stem end down on top of the cream cheese. Pour cooked mixture
over berries. Refrigerate until firm. Top with whipped cream
and decorate with extra berries.
