SHOO-FLY PIE

1 1/4 c. flour
1/2 tsp. baking powder
1/3 c. sugar
dash of salt
1/3 c. butter
1/2 c. molasses
1/2 tsp. soda
1 c. minus 2 Tbsp. boiling
water
1 (9-inch) unbaked pie shell

Mix flour, baking powder, sugar and salt in large bowl.
Cut in butter until crumbs are formed. Combine molasses, soda
and boiling water, mixing well to blend. Pour about 1/2 cup of
liquid into pie shell; sprinkle with about 1/2 cup of crumb
mixture. Continue to alternate liquid and crumbs, ending with
crumbs. Bake in moderate oven (375 degrees) for 40 to 45 minutes.
Crust should be brown and firm to touch and cake tester comes
out clean. Serve warm or cold.
