CHRISTMAS BREAD

2 c. scalded milk
2 tsp. salt
2/3 large yeast cake or 2
envelopes
1/2 c. sugar
1/4 c. butter
1 egg, beaten
7 c. flour
1/2 lb. candied fruit
1 tsp. cinnamon
1/2 tsp. nutmeg
1/4 tsp. cloves

Place scalded milk, salt, yeast, sugar, butter and
beaten egg in bowl and allow to cool. Sift together remaining
ingredients. Add 3 cups of dry ingredients to liquids, then
mix remaining dry ingredients to same, add fruit. Knead dough.
Let rise. Divide into thirds and let rise in round cake or pie
tins. Bake at 350 degrees for 20 minutes. When cool, glaze top with
confectioners sugar and milk glaze.
