PAPER BAG APPLE PIE 1 unbaked pie shell (9-inch) 3 or 4 large baking apples 1/2 c. sugar 3 Tbsp. flour 1/2 tsp. nutmeg 2 Tbsp. lemon juice Bake pie shell using your own dough recipe. Prepare apples by slicing. Combine sugar, flour and nutmeg in a cup. Sprinkle over apples, toss until well covered. Put into pastry shell. Sprinkle with lemon juice. Topping: 1/2 c. sugar 1/3 c. flour 1/2 c. butter Combine all ingredients. Sprinkle this mixture over apples, covering the top well. Place pie in heavy brown paper bag, it should be large enough to cover the pie well; fastened with paper clips. Place on cookie sheet and bake in preheated oven at 425 degrees for 1 hour.
