BREAD PUFFS

1 c. whole wheat flour
1 c. all-purpose flour
1/2 tsp. salt
3 Tbsp. oil
1/2 to 3/4 c. water
vegetable oil

Mix flours, salt and oil until mixture resembles fine
crumbs. Stir in enough water to make a very stiff dough.
Cover; let rest 20 minutes. Shape into 1-inch balls. Roll
into 3 to 4-inch circles. Heat oil (1 1/2 to 2-inches) to
370 degrees. Fry 1 to 3 at a time, turning once, until golden brown
and evenly puffed, 1 1/2 to 2 minutes. Drain on paper towels.
Makes about 24.
