SOUTHERN CUSTARD PIE 1 c. sugar 2 Tbsp. butter 5 large eggs 1 tsp. vanilla dash of salt 2 c. milk or light cream Cream together sugar and butter. Beat eggs separately until light and frothy. Add salt. Combine milk and vanilla, beating constantly. Pour into an unbaked pie crust. Preheat oven to 450 degrees. Bake for 10 minutes. Reduce temperature to 325 degrees and continue baking for 25 minutes or until knife inserted in the center of the pie comes out clean.
