APPLE CRISP 4 c. tart apples, pared and sliced 1/4 c. water 1 Tbsp. lemon juice 1/4 c. brown sugar, packed 1/4 c. whole wheat flour 1/4 c. old-fashioned rolled oats 1/2 tsp. ground cinnamon 1/4 tsp. ground nutmeg 3 Tbsp. margarine Place apples in 8 x 8 x 2-inch baking pan. Mix water and lemon juice. Pour over apples. Mix sugar, flour, oats and spices. Add margarine to dry mixture evenly over apples. Sprinkle crumbly mixture evenly over apples. Bake at 350 degrees (moderate oven) until apples are tender and topping is lightly brown, about 40 minutes.
