HALF MOON COOKIES

1 c. shortening
1 1/2 c. sugar
2 eggs
3 1/2 c. flour
1 1/2 tsp. baking powder
1/2 tsp. salt
1 c. sour milk
1 tsp. vanilla
1 tsp. baking soda

Combine shortening, sugar and eggs in large bowl. Mix
until a smooth consistency. Add flour, baking soda, baking
powder, salt, milk and vanilla. Drop by tablespoon on cookie
sheet. Bake at 350 degrees for 10 to 15 minutes.
Note: To sour milk, mix 2 tablespoons vinegar to 1 cup
milk. When cookies are cooled, spread with frosting on flat
side of cookies.

Butter Frosting For Half Moon Cookies:
4 Tbsp. butter or margarine
1/4 tsp. salt
2 1/2 c. confectioners sugar
1 egg yolk
3 Tbsp. hot milk
1 tsp. vanilla
In a large bowl combine all ingredients. Stir with a
spoon and then beat until the frosting appears to be of a good
spreading consistency. Add cocoa or melted chocolate to half
of mixture for chocolate frosting.
