SOUR CREAM POUND CAKE

1 c. shortening
3 c. sugar
6 eggs
1/4 tsp. soda
3 c. all-purpose flour
1/2 tsp. salt
1 c. sour cream
1 tsp. vanilla

Cream shortening and sugar together. Add slightly
beaten egg yolks. Sift dry ingredients together and add
alternately with sour cream. Add vanilla. Beat egg whites
until stiff and fold into mixture. Pour batter into two
greased and floured loaf pans, 9 1/4 x 5 1/4 x 2 3/4-inches.
Bake in preheated oven at 300 degrees for 1 hour and 15 minutes or
until done. Cool cake in pans for 30 minutes.
