CROSS-STITCH SPICE COOKIES|
1 c. shortening, softened
1/2 c. brown sugar
1/2 c. white sugar
1/2 tsp. vanilla
2 c. flour
1/2 tsp. salt
1/2 tsp. soda
1/2 tsp. cinnamon
1/4 tsp. nutmeg
1 c. oatmeal
Beat together shortening and sugars. Add egg and
vanilla; beat well. Sift together flour, soda, salt, cinnamon
and nutmeg. Gradually add to creamed mixture, beating well.
Stir in oats. Shape dough to form 1-inch balls. Place on
ungreased cookie sheets. With tines of fork, press to make
crisscrosses on each. Bake at 375 degrees for 10 to 12 minutes.
