SWEDISH ALMOND COOKIES|
1/2 c. shortening
1/2 c. butter or margarine,
1 c. sifted powdered sugar
1/2 tsp. salt
2 c. all-purpose flour
1 Tbsp. water
1 Tbsp. vanilla extract
1 1/4 c. finely chopped
additional sifted powdered
Cream shortening and butter until light and fluffy. Add
1 cup powdered sugar and the salt; mix well. Add flour, water,
vanilla extract and almonds, stirring well. Shape dough into
1-inch balls. Place on ungreased cookie sheets. Slightly
flatten each cookie; bake at 350 degrees for 15 minutes. Remove from
cookie sheets and roll in additional powdered sugar. Yield:
About 3 dozen.
