JAM SQUARES

1/2 lb. margarine or butter
1 c. sugar
2 egg yolks
2 c. flour
1/4 tsp. baking powder
1/4 tsp. salt
1/2 tsp. vanilla
1 c. chopped walnuts
any flavor jam or preserves

Mix margarine and sugar. Add egg yolks and mix. Add
flour, baking powder, salt, vanilla and walnuts. Dough will be
crumbly. Put half of dough in greased 9 x 13-inch pan. Spread
jam on top of dough. Put remaining dough on top of jam. Pat
lightly. Bake at 325 degrees for 40 to 50 minutes or just until
golden. Cool and cut in squares. Sprinkle with powdered
sugar.
