COCONUT DIAMONDS

1/2 c. soft butter or
margarine
1/2 c. brown sugar
1/2 tsp. salt
1 c. sifted flour
2 eggs
1 tsp. vanilla
1 c. brown sugar
2 Tbsp. flour
1/2 tsp. salt
3 1/2 oz. can (1 1/4 c.)
flaked coconut
1 c. broken walnuts

Cream butter, brown sugar and salt. Stir in 1 cup flour.
Pat dough into ungreased 13 x 9 x 2-inch pan. Bake at 350 degrees for
12 to 15 minutes until light brown. Beat eggs slightly. Add
vanilla. Gradually add sugar, beating just until blended. Add
flour and salt. Stir in coconut and walnuts. Spread over
baked layer. Bake 20 to 25 minutes or until toothpick comes
out clean. Cool. Cut. Makes 2 dozen.
