ITALIAN CREAM CAKE

1 c. buttermilk
1 tsp. soda
5 eggs
2 c. sugar
1 stick oleo
1/2 c. shortening
2 c. flour
1 c. flaked coconut
1 tsp. vanilla

Icing:
8 oz. cream cheese
1 stick oleo, softened
1 box powdered sugar
1 c. flaked coconut
1 tsp. vanilla

Combine buttermilk and soda. Let stand, cream oleo,
shortening and sugar. Add egg yolks one at a time, beating
well. Add buttermilk alternately with flour. Add vanilla.
Beat egg whites until stiff and fold in. Stir in coconut
gently. Bake in three greased and lined pans for about 25
minutes at 350 degrees.
