JUANITA'S NUT PLUM CAKE

1 1/2 c. chopped purple plums
1 c. granulated sugar
1/2 c. brown sugar
3/4 c. oil
1 egg, beaten
1 tsp. grated orange peel
2 c. flour
1/4 tsp. salt
1 tsp. baking soda
1 c. buttermilk

Nut Topping:
1/4 c. sugar
1/4 c. chopped walnuts
1 tsp. cinnamon

Pit and chop plums to measure 1 1/2 cups. In mixing
bowl blend sugars, oil, egg and orange peel. Sift together
flour, salt and soda. Add to sugar mixture alternately with
buttermilk, stirring well after each addition. Stir in plums.
Pour into greased 9 x 13-inch baking pan. Sprinkle with nut
topping. Bake at 350 degrees for 35 minutes or until cake tests done.
Nut Topping: Combine ingredients. Toss to mix.
Sprinkle over cake before baking.
