THE MAD HATTER'S STRIPED TEA SANDWICHES

Take one white loaf and one brown loaf; cut each loaf
into long horizontal slices. Butter each slice on one side and
spread with a thin layer of cream cheese. Saw off all crusts
with a bread knife. Build a new striped loaf by pressing the
crustless white and brown slices together in alternate layers.
Press the slices together firmly, wrap and chill. To serve,
cut bread into 3-inch wide striped fingers.
Serve tea sandwiches before tea cakes and scones with
jam. A suitable drinking tea would be Darjeeling or Earl Grey
as it goes well with cakes and sweet things.
