BOSTON MULLED CIDER

2 qt. apple cider
3/4 c. Triple Sec
1/2 c. raisins
1 orange, sliced, unpeeled
1 apple, quartered, cored and
unpared
1 lemon or lime, sliced
1/4 c. brown sugar, packed
5 pieces star anise (optional)
1 tsp. ground nutmeg
1 stick cinnamon
1 tsp. whole allspice
8 whole cloves
1/3 c. dark rum (optional)

In a large kettle combine the cider, orange flavoring of
your choice, raisins, orange, apple and lemon slices, brown
sugar, star anise (if used), nutmeg, cinnamon, allspice and
cloves. Bring to a boil. Reduce heat and simmer 10 minutes.
Just before serving, stir in the rum, if used. Ladle into mugs
to serve hot. Preparation time 10 minutes.
