MICROWAVE FRENCH ONION SOUP

4 to 5 large onions, sliced
1/4 c. butter or margarine
1 can chicken broth
1 can beef broth
water
toasted French bread slices
8 oz. shredded Swiss cheese
1/4 c. grated Parmesan cheese

Combine onions and butter in a 3-quart glass casserole.
Cover. Microwave at High 7 to 9 minutes, or until the onions
are soft and translucent. Pour chicken and beef broth into 4
cup measure. Add water to make 1 quart. Stir into onions.
Cover. Microwave 4 to 6 minutes until heated through. Ladle
soup into 4 individual casserole bowls. Top with bread slices
to cover. Sprinkle with cheese. Microwave 5 1/2 to 7 1/2
minutes, until cheese melts. Rearrange dishes once or twice.
Makes 4 servings.
