MICROWAVE RICE PILAF

1/4 tsp. pepper
1/4 tsp. salt
1/8 tsp. thyme
1 small bay leaf
2 1/4 c. chicken broth
1 c. rice
4 Tbsp. butter or margarine
1/4 c. chopped onion
1/4 c. chopped celery

Combine rice and butter in 2 quart casserole. Cook,
uncovered for 4 to 5 minutes on High until rice starts to
brown, stirring every minute. Add celery and onion and cook
uncovered 3 to 5 minutes or until vegetables are soft. Stir in
remaining ingredients. Cover; cook 6 minutes on High, then 17
to 20 minutes at 40% power. Stir twice during cooking. Let
stand covered 5 minutes before serving.
