SPLIT PEA SOUP 2 qt. boiling water ham bone 5 peppercorns 1/2 c. diced potato salt and pepper to taste 1 lb. split dried peas 1 small onion, sliced 1 c. diced cooked ham 1/3 c. sliced carrot Combine water, peas, ham bone, onion and peppercorns in 4 quart bowl. Cover lightly; microwave 25 minutes on High or until peas are tender, stirring after 15 minutes. Remove ham bone. Cut away any meat and add to soup. Add diced ham, potatoes and carrots. Cover and microwave 15 to 20 minutes on High or until vegetables are tender-crisp. Taste for seasoning and correct. Makes 8 to 10 servings.
