1 c. softened butter
1/2 tsp. almond extract
1 tsp. cream of tartar
1/2 tsp. salt
1 c. sugar
1 tsp. vanilla extract
3 c. flour
1/2 tsp. baking soda
In 3 quart bowl cream butter and sugar together until
fluffy. Beat in eggs and extracts. Stir in remaining ingredi-
ents. Wrap in plastic and chill for 1/2 hour. Roll 1-inch
pieces of dough into balls. Place 12 balls on a glass baking
tray, lined with wax paper. Flatten with back of tablespoon
(first dip in water, then in sugar; can also use bottom of
drinking glass for bigger cookies). Microwave, uncovered, on
Low for 7 to 10 minutes or until set and dry. Let cool on wax
paper. Repeat with remaining dough.
