BASIC BROWN SAUCE|
1/4 c. fine chopped onion
1/4 tsp. pepper
1 (10 oz.) can beef broth
1/4 to 1/2 tsp. salt
3 Tbsp. flour
4 Tbsp. butter or pan
drippings from meat
1/8 tsp. ground thyme
Combine onion and butter in a 1 quart glass bowl.
Microwave on Cook, uncovered, for 4 minutes until onion is
softened, stirring once. Stir flour into onion mixture.
Gradually add beef broth, stirring once, to avoid lumping. Add
remaining ingredients. Microwave, uncovered, on Cook for 4 1/2
to 5 1/2 minutes until thick and bubbly, stirring twice.
