FRIED APPLE PIES

6 c. dried apples
1 tsp. salt
3 tsp. allspice
3 1/2 c. sugar

Use one cup of water per cup of apples. Mix all ingredients together
in cooking pan. Cook over low heat stirring constantly until
thickened. Let cool overnight.

Pie Crust:
2 c. self-rising flour
2 Tbsp. vegetable shortening
1/2 to 2/3 c. milk
vegetable oil or shortening (for frying)

Mix all ingredients together. Roll out the dough and cut into
saucer sized circles. Place a small scoop of chilled filling in
the center, leaving a margin around the edges. Fold over and crimp
the edges with a fork and fry the pie in oil until golden brown on
both sides. Serve hot alone or with ice cream or milk.
