SAUCES AND TOPPINGS FOR WAFFLES, ICE CREAM, ETC.


Sauteed Bananas:
2 Tbsp. butter
3 firm bananas, cut lengthwise in half and then in shorter pieces
3 Tbsp. light brown sugar
1/4 c. rum or water

Melt butter in skillet. Peel bananas and cut them lengthwise
in half and then in shorter pieces. Add to pan, flat side down,
and cook 2 minutes or until brown on the edges. Remove to a plate
and add 3 tablespoons light brown sugar and stir to blend with the
butter. Stir in 1/4 cup rum or water and stir to dissolve sugar.
Return bananas to pan and baste to coat, then serve.

Sauteed Pineapple:
1 pineapple
3 Tbsp. butter
1 Tbsp. brown sugar
3 Tbsp. rum

Peel, core and cut up pineapple. Melt butter in skillet over
medium heat. Add pineapple and brown sugar and cook 10 minutes,
stirring occasionally. If desired, add 3 tablespoons rum.

A Simple Sauce:
vanilla ice cream

Melt ice cream for a simple sauce for waffles.

Or make a cinnamon butter by combining:
1 c. butter
1/4 c. powdered sugar
3/4 tsp. cinnamon
