GERMAN CHOCOLATE UPSIDE-DOWN CAKE

1 c. chopped nuts (I use pecans)
1 c. coconut
1 pkg. German chocolate cake mix
1/2 c. (1 stick) butter or margarine
2 (8 oz.) pkg. cream cheese
3 1/2 c. powdered sugar

Grease and flour (or use cooking spray) a 9 x 13-inch pan.
Spread the nuts on bottom of pan evenly and cover with the coconut.

Mix cake mix according to box directions. Pour carefully over
the nuts and coconut.

In a microwavable bowl heat the butter and cream cheese until
warm and soft. Stir in the powdered sugar until creamy. Spoon
cream cheese mixture evenly over the top of cake mix. Bake at 350 degrees
for 35 to 40 minutes or until done. The time will vary depending
on your oven. Cake will be sticky when done.

Note: Instead of oil for the cake mix, I use applesauce.
Enjoy.
