picnic ham 1 c. brown sugar 3/4 c. vinegar 1 onion, sliced 3 bay leaves Cover ham with cold water. Bring to a boil and boil hard for 10 minutes. Pour off water. Cover again with cold water. Add brown sugar, vinegar, onion, and bay leaves to the pot. Bring to a boil, decrease heat, and simmer 20 minutes per pound. Let cool completely before removing ham from water.
