1 c. real butter 1 1/2 c. packed brown sugar 1/2 c. granulated sugar 2 eggs 2 1/2 tsp. vanilla 3/4 tsp. salt 2 1/2 c. all-purpose flour 1 tsp. baking soda 1 tsp. baking powder 6 oz. semi-sweet chocolate chips 1 1/2 c. walnuts or macadamia nuts (opt.) Preheat oven to 350. In a large bowl, cream butter. Add sugars and beat. Add eggs and vanilla; mix well. Add dry ingredients and mix well. Add chocolate chips and nuts (if desired); mix with hands. Place golf ball sized dough portions about 2" apart on ungreased cookie sheet. Bake 9 minutes. DO NOT EXCEED cooking time. When cookies are removed from oven, the sugar will stay hot and continue the cooking process. Finished product should be soft in the middle and crunchy around the edges.
