1/2 pound butter 18 oz. semi-sweet chocolate chips (1 1/2 pkgs.) 3 Tbsp. vanilla 4 1/2 c. sugar 1 large can evaporated milk 2 c. nuts (opt.) In a large Pyrex bowl, mix butter, chocolate chips, vanilla, and nuts; beat until smooth. In a large heavy pan, put sugar and milk; mix well. When mixture starts to boil, boil hard for 6 minutes. Pour over mixture in Pyrex bowl and mix thoroughly. Pour into a large pan lined with waxed paper and cut into squares when cool.
