CHOCOLATE MERINGUE PIE

1 1/4 c. sugar
1/3 c. all-purpose flour
1/4 c. cocoa
2 c. milk
4 eggs, separated
2 Tbsp. butter or margarine, melted
1 tsp. vanilla
1 baked 9" pie shell
1/2 - 1 tsp cream of tartar
1/2 c. sugar

Mix 1 1/4 c. sugar, flour, and cocoa in a sauce pan. Add milk, a
little at a time, then egg yolks, butter, and vanilla. Cook until
thick. Pour into baked pie shell. Beat egg whites and cream of
tartar until stiff, then add 1/2 c. sugar and beat until stiff
peaks form. Top pie and bake at 350 until lightly browned.
