1 (8 oz.) can water chestnuts 4 green onions, chopped 2 (4 oz.) cans mushrooms, drained 1/2 c. butter 1/2 c. all-purpose flour 2 c. milk 3/4 c. shredded Cheddar cheese 2 tsp. soy sauce 1/2 tsp. hot pepper sauce 1/2 tsp. salt 3/4 c. slivered almonds 3 (6 oz.) pkg. frozen French-cut green beans, cooked and drained Preheat oven to 365 degrees. Chop water chestnuts; add to beans. Sauté onions and mushrooms in butter. Stir in flour, milk and cheese. Cook over low heat until thickened, stirring occasionally. Stir in soy sauce, hot pepper sauce and salt. Pour sauce over beans; mix gently. Turn into a greased 2-quart casserole; sprinkle almonds over top. Bake for 20 minutes. Makes 8 to 10 servings.
