5 eggs 1 c. sugar 1 c. butter 1 Tbsp. soda (use a little less) 1 Tbsp. cinnamon 3 c. flour 2 c. jam 1 c. buttermilk 1 Tbsp. allspice 1 c. black walnuts 1 c. raisins Separate eggs. Cream butter and sugar. Add jam and blend. Add egg yolks, 1 at a time, and mix until smooth. Add flour and milk alternately; blend after each addition. Add spices, nuts and raisins. Fold in egg whites that have been beaten well. Bake at 250 degrees in stem pan. Ice with caramel icing.
