2 c. pecans 1 lb. candy 1 lb. dates 3 1/2 c. flour 1 c. coconut 1 c. orange juice 2 c. powdered sugar 2 sticks butter 2 c. sugar 4 eggs 1 tsp. soda 1/2 c. buttermilk Cream butter and sugar until smooth. Add eggs one at a time; mix well. Dissolve soda in buttermilk; let sit. Add buttermilk to cream mixture. Place flour in a large bowl. Add dates, candy and nuts; coat well. Combine cream mix to dry ingredients; add coconut. Mix with hands well. Pour into 8 x 13. Cook at 250 degrees for 2 1/2 to 3 hours. Poke holes in cake; pour icing over cake. Icing: Heat orange juice and powdered sugar in saucepan to dissolve. Recipe by Brenda Blocker (Gran Gran).
