3/4 c. shortening 1 c. sugar 1/4 c. molasses 1 egg 2 c. sifted flour 2 tsp. baking soda 1 tsp. cinnamon 1/2 tsp. cloves 1/2 tsp. ginger 1/2 tsp. salt sugar Cream shortening, sugar, molasses and egg. Mix in dry ingredients. Chill. Shape into 1-inch balls; roll in additional sugar. Place on greased cookie sheet. Bake at 375 degrees for 8 to 10 minutes. Makes 3 dozen.
