1 1/2 c. sugar 1 c. shortening 2 eggs 1 tsp. vanilla 1 tsp. baking powder 1/4 tsp. soda all-purpose flour 1/3 c. buttermilk Cream sugar and shortening. Add eggs and vanilla; mix well. Stir baking powder and soda in 1 cup flour. Add alternately with buttermilk; beat well. Put in bowl and gradually work in enough flour to roll. Cut and bake in a 375 degrees oven until lightly brown.
