2 1/2 c. sifted pastry flour 1/2 tsp. baking soda 1/2 tsp. salt 1/2 c. butter or other shortening 1 c. sugar 2 eggs, well beaten 1/2 c. sour milk 1 tsp. vanilla Sift flour once and measure. Add baking soda and salt; sift together three times. Work butter with spoon until creamy. Add sugar gradually, beating after each addition until light and fluffy. Add eggs; blend well. Add flour alternately with milk, beating after each addition until smooth. Add vanilla. Drop by teaspoonfuls on ungreased baking sheet. Bake in hot oven (425 degrees) for 10 minutes, or until brown.
