8 slices of bread - use French bread and slice into 8 - 1" slices 1 (8-ounce) package cream cheese, cubed 1 dozen eggs, whipped (may use 9-10) 2 cups milk 1/3 cup maple syrup (may use regular syrup) Confectioners sugar, optional Assorted fruits, optional Trim crust off bread and cut into cubes. Place 1/2 of the cubes in a greased 13x9-inch dish. Cover with cubes of cream cheese. Then layer last 1/2 of bread cubes. Mix eggs, 2 cups of milk, and maple syrup. Pour over bread and cheese. Push bread crumbs down into liquid. Cover and refrigerate overnight. May sprinkle with cinnamon before baking. Bake at 350 degrees for approximately 45 minutes. Serve with syrup, confectioners sugar, or fruit. Yield: 8 servings.
