2 Tbsp. shortening 2 lbs. stew meat 1in. cubes 2 large onions 1 c. water 2 large potatoes sliced thin (or more if needed) 1 can cream of mushroom 1 c. sour cream 1 1/4 c. milk 1 tsp. salt 1/4 tsp. pepper 1 c. shredded cheddar cheese 1 1/4 c. Wheaties cereal crushed Cook meat and onions in shortening until meat is brown and tender. Add water, heat to boil, then reduce heat, cover and let simmer for 1 hr. Heat oven to 350 degrees. Pour meat mixture into an ungreased 13x9 baking dish. Arrange potatoes on top of meat in a thin layer. Mix soup, sour cream, milk, salt, pepper then pour over the top of meat and potatoes. Sprinkle with shredded cheddar cheese and crushed Wheaties. Bake uncovered for 1 1/2 hours or until potatoes are done.
