1 c sugar 1/2 c shortening 2 c flour 1/4 tsp cream of tartar 1/2 tsp cloves 1 tsp cinnamon 1/4 tsp nutmeg 1 tsp salt 1 c applesauce 1 tsp soda 1 c raisins Cream sugar and shortening. Add soda to applesauce and beat. Add sugar mixture. Sift flour and other dry ingredients. Add to first mixture of sugar and shortening. Add raisins and mix well. Bake 1 hour in 350 degree oven.
