2/3 c. shortening (butter)
3/4 c. sugar
1/2 c. orange juice
2 Tbsp. grated orange rind
2 c. Gold Medal Flour
1/2 tsp. baking powder
1/2 tsp. baking soda
1/2 tsp. salt
Heat oven to 400 degrees. Mix butter, sugar and egg, thoroughly.
Stir in orange juice and rind. Measure flour by dipping method.
Stir dry ingredients together; blend in. Drop rounded teaspoonfuls
of dough about 2" apart on ungreased baking sheet. Bake 8-10
minutes or until delicately browned on edges. Frost with Orange
Orange Butter Frosting:
2 1/2 Tbsp. soft butter
1 1/2 c. sifted confectioners sugar
1 1/2 Tbsp. orange juice
2 tsp. grated orange rind
Blend butter and sugar together. Stir in orange juice and rinds
until smooth. Frost Orange Drop Cookies. Makes icing for 4 dozen
