Filo Preparation: 1 round 15" tray or 12"X 17" rectangular 2 lbs. filo dough 3 cups melted rendered butter NOTE: While using, keep dough covered with damp cloth or plastic, to prevent from drying. Butter baking pan thoroughly. For bottom layer, use one pound of filo dough. Brush melted butter between each sheet in baking pan. Do not butter top sheet. Spread filling evenly over the last sheet of first pound of dough. Add remaining filo dough, brushing melted butter between each sheet. When layer is complete, cut in diamond shapes before baking. Pour remaining melted butter over Baklawa. Bake in preheated 400 degrees F oven for 15 minutes then reduce heat to 325 degrees F oven for 45 minutes. Syrup: 2 1/2 cups sugar 1 1/2 cups water 1/2 tsp. lemon juice 1 tsp. orange blossom water Mix sugar and water and boil over medium heat for 10 to 15 minutes. Add lemon juice and orange blossom water before removing from heat. Let syrup stand for 10 minutes. Pour syrup evenly over cold, baked Baklawa.
