1 1/2 c. raisins 1 1/2 c. boiling water 1 c. firmly packed brown sugar 4 tsp. butter or shortening 1 egg 1 tsp. molasses 1 tsp. salt 2 tsp. soda 2 2/3 c. all-purpose flour 1 c. chopped pecans Combine raisins and water in small bowl. Combine sugar, shortening, eggs and molasses. Beat well. Stir in salt, soda, flour and raisins mixture. Mix well. Stir in nuts. Spoon into 4 greased 16-ounce cans. Bake at 350 degrees for 1 hour or until done. Cool slightly before removing from cans. Yield: 4 small loaves.
