BANANA BREAD

2 c. flour
1/2 c. margarine or shortening
1 c. sugar
1/2 tsp. baking soda
1/2 tsp. salt
2 eggs
1/2 tsp. baking powder
3 bananas (very ripe)
1 c. raisins (optional)
1/2 c. nuts of choice, chopped (optional)

Peel and mash bananas. Mix all ingredients in large bowl and
turn into a well-greased loaf pan. Bake at 350 degrees for 45 minutes or
until the top is a deep brown, crusty and kind of split open down
the middle. Remove it from oven and let stand in the loaf pan a
few minutes. Then remove the bread from pan to cool.
