Single: 1 c. shortening 1 1/2 c. brown sugar 2 eggs 1/2 c. milk 1 3/4 c. flour 1/4 tsp. baking soda 2 tsp. baking powder 1 tsp. each salt and cinnamon 1/2 tsp. nutmeg 3 c. quick cooking oats 3/4 c. raisins Double: 2 c. shortening 3 c. brown sugar 4 eggs 1 c. milk 3 1/2 c. flour 1/2 tsp. baking soda 4 tsp. baking powder 2 tsp. each salt and cinnamon 1 tsp. nutmeg 6 c. quick cooking oats 1 1/2 c. raisins Cream together shortening, brown sugar and eggs until light and fluffy. Stir in milk. Sift together dry ingredients and stir into creamed mixture. Stir in rolled oats and raisins. Drop from tablespoon 2-inches apart on greased cookie sheet. Cool slightly and remove from pan. Bake at 400 degrees for 8 minutes. Makes 5 to 10 dozen.
