(This is a German Christmas cookie.)

2 c. brown sugar
2 eggs
1 tsp. baking soda
1 Tbsp. hot water
1 c. chopped nuts (walnuts, almonds or hazelnuts)
2 tsp. ground cinnamon
1 tsp. ground nutmeg
3 c. flour, sifted
1 c. powdered sugar (for rolling cookies in)

Combine sugar and eggs. Add baking soda, flour, cinnamon,
nutmeg, hot water and chopped nuts until well blended. Roll into
balls. Bake at 350 degrees until light brown. Roll in powdered sugar
after baked.
