Double: 4 c. granulated sugar 2 c. vegetable shortening 4 eggs 4 tsp. vanilla 8 c. sifted flour 2 tsp. salt 2 tsp. soda 2 c. buttermilk Single: 2 c. granulated sugar 1 c. vegetable shortening 2 eggs 2 tsp. vanilla 4 c. sifted flour 1 tsp. salt 1 tsp. soda 1 c. buttermilk Combine flour, salt and soda (dry ingredients). Set aside. Cream shortening and sugar. Add vanilla and eggs. Beat well. Add dry ingredients, alternating with buttermilk. Drop with tablespoon in order to make good cookies. Small cookies will not have the center texture desired. Sprinkle with cinnamon and sugar. Bake at 400 degrees approximately 10 minutes. Watch closely. They should not brown.
