1 1/4 c. shortening 2 c. white sugar 2 eggs 1 c. milk 3 tsp. baking powder 1 tsp. soda 1/4 c. orange juice rind from 1 large orange Mix shortening and sugar together. To ingredients, gradually add 5 to 6 cups of sifted flour to make a stiff dough. Drop by teaspoon on greased cookie sheet. Bake in a 350 degrees oven for 12 to 15 minutes or until golden brown. Orange Icing: 1 lb. sifted powdered sugar orange juice (enough to make a thin glaze) Peel orange and slice very thin slivers for garnish on cookie and also pieces of walnuts if desired. These cookies freeze really well. Thaw at room temperature on paper towels.
